Clinical Study of Meniscus Injury of Korean Soldiers and Officers


Abstract
The anther collected 42 cases of meniscus tear of the knee joint treated at Orthopedic Dept. of Kwang Ju Triservice Army Hospital from 1967 to 1972, on August.
We observed the incidence and mechanism of the injury of the knee and compared these with may Korea authers and Eueopean writings.
1. Among 42 cases, 28 cases were lateral meniscus injury and 14 cases were medial.
2. Among 42 cases, 31 cases occured in soldiers, the remained 11 cases were in officers.
3. Among 42 cases of lateral meniscus injury, 31 cases occured 22-25 years old soldiers who were
most active and hard trained inarmy society.
4. There were prominent evidence of trauma in 35 cases among 42 cases.
5. Posterior horn tear was 18 cases and lateral meniscus tear was 12 cases among them.
6. We were induced possible conclusion that most frequent and important factor of meniscus injury
was acute traumatic accident in army society and lateral meniscus tear was correlated with protec
